Overview

Paragon Genomics is a fast-growing life sciences company developing and commercializing breakthrough targeted sequencing solutions for next-generation sequencing (NGS). We are seeking a talented NGS Sales Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving customer and sales growth on the US west coast and Asia-Pacific region.

This is a hybrid role with the expectation of being on-site a minimum of 1 day per month. This role reports to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities
 
  • Demonstrates technical credibility to consult with customers and distributors on Paragon Genomics technology solutions and deliver technical talks highlighting value propositions.
  • Ability to sell into Targeted NGS Customer segments including academic research, pathology, agrigenomics and pharmaceutical and biotechnology; knowledge of NGS industry and workflows.
  • Demonstrates funnel management skills with strong hunting/prospecting and closing skills.
  • Commitment to rigorous territory planning, quoting, market knowledge, both accurate and timely forecasting
  • Develops and manages a business plan to meet or exceed business goals for the territory.
  • Consistently and accurately manages sales process including prospecting, closing, sales forecasting, pipeline management.
  • Develops and maintains current knowledge of markets, products, and buying practices required to effectively compete in the assigned territory.
  • Ensure that customers are fully satisfied with our products and services.
  • Continuously assess skills required to meet the needs of changing customers.
  • Work closely with the technical team on customer acquisition and support.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Background
  • Four-year degree in relevant field (e.g. Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry). Advanced degree preferred, but not required (MBA, MS, PhD).
  • Two to three years of application / technical support, sales or business development experience in sales/marketing/channel management required.
  • Extensive knowledge in Next Generation Sequencing, especially target enrichment.
  • Professional and high standards in personal presentation.
  • Represent the company professionally, ethically, and morally always.
  • Background in biopharma/biotech preferred.
  • Ability to manage relationships under stress and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work and think independently and coordinate several activities simultaneously.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and listening skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to achieve shared objectives.
  • Ability to achieve and carry out effective selling techniques.
  • Ability to maintain a customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Maintain enthusiasm and perseverance.
  • Effective negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Must possess solid critical thinking skills; must be able to anticipate and solve problems in a systematic manner.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Work requires little physical effort. Lifting or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) is intermittent (not a routine part of the job) and secondary to the job. The job requires sitting for long periods of time, with an occasional need to stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Work is performed under basically normal working conditions as in a standard office environment.
